iDiv Summer School 2019

We are happy to announce the iDiv Summer School 2019 "Citizen Science – Innovation in Open Science, Society and Policy", 21 to 28 August 2019, in Leipzig, Germany!

During the seven summer school days, participants will be immersed into different topics in integrated biodiversity sciences through citizen science in theory and practice. The lead teachers are Aletta Bonn    iDiv/UFZ Professor and Head of the research group Ecosystem Services   , and Dr Anett Richter   , Postdoc at the Ecosystem services group.

The course will address different aspects of citizen science as an innovative tool for open science, society and policy. It will deliver new insights into the values and tools of and in citizen science. Participants will also gain hands-on experiences on how to do citizen science and will work on two research projects with an opportunity to present results at the iDiv conference that takes place immediately after the summer school (29 to 30 August 2019).
The summer school aims to attract early career scientists (graduates and post grads) from around the world with an overall interest in integrated biodiversity research using participatory approaches to bridge science, society and policy.

The application deadline for the course is Sunday, 5 May 2019.

Conference on "Ethical Challenges for business in the future"

The Wittenberg Center for Global Ethics will host a conference on "Ethical challenges for business in the future" on November 13-15.
This first Wittenberg Interdisciplinary Business Ethics Conference (WIBEC) aims to provide a platform for exchange for young doctoral candidates working in the fields of economic, corporate, and leadership ethics. It is our goal to bring doctoral candidates together from all kinds of disciplines: philosophy, sociology, business studies, economics, psychology, jurisprudence, theology, history, and others. Scholars from other disciplines, e.g. art or the natural sciences are very welcome to apply if they wish to contribute to the broad topic of business ethics. All kinds of methodologies are welcome, including conceptual and normative works as well as qualitative and quantitative studies.
